Thanks for scanning the QR code. The Nottingham Park Residents Association (NPRA) are raising money to fill The Park Tunnel with native flowers and plants to enhance everyone’s experience of this wonderful part of Nottingham. We are also raising funds for interpretation boards so that everyone who visits can learn a little bit more about the history of the tunnel and the wonderful plants that enhance the biodiversity of the area. Every single penny that is donated will be matched by the NPRA so if you donate just £1 then it is worth £2!

Our fundraising target is £3,000 which, once matched, will total £6,000

What are we doing?

The Tunnel presents two main areas for new planting, the aim being to increase the biodiversity by selecting native plants which in turn will encourage insect activity, moths in particular.

Area 1.

The narrow bed strip either side of the Tunnel entrance coming from the Derby Road end. This area has the most regular and full light and is currently full of weeds primarily Nettle.

Area 2.

Selected beds in the two deep borders on both sides going down to the Park. This area is well planted and flourishing with Park Estate shrubbery. There are some good unplanted areas of deep loam which are open to variable light. Some weeds are present.

In area 1 we rid the strips of the weeds in August. This means that these strips will lie fallow until October so any summer self seeded weeds can grow and then be removed prior to planting plugs in October.
